An Author's Work Is Never Done

I heard from my editor yesterday in regards to my book on dreads. She wanted me to decide whether the book was a history of dreads or a how to book on dreads. To me, each subject has been done and I did not want my book to be the same old same old.

The history of dreads has been discussed to the limit on the web and so has the how to part. Of course I was going to include in brevity some history and the how to can only make up a page or two.

She made a valid point, without settling on one or the other (history) or (how to) the book will be difficult to market. I still believe the personal journeys are so interesting along with gorgeous hairstyles. I am just going to have to try my best to get the editor to get my vision.

I mean dreads are more than a hairstyle. The history of the past is not the history being written by today's dread wearer. I sense a new definition for dreads emerging and the stories tell the new definition.

So, I have some decisions to make as the book continues to develop. Sonetimes a new editor is the answer when you feel so strongly about something.

The good news is that the subject matter is fantastic. Marketing is the problem.

I'll kepp you updated on how the book is moving along. The path to publishing is not far away if you use publishing time.
