Salem Witch Trial/Hunt of 2012 Uses Labels Once Again

The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, between February 1692 and May 1693

The episode is one of the most notorious cases of mass hysteria, and has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations and lapses in due process. It was not unique, being an American example of the much larger phenomenon of witch trials in the Early Modern period, but many have considered the lasting impressions from the trials to have been highly influential in subsequent American history.

Men and women in Salem believed that all the misfortunes were attributed to the work of the devil; when things like infant death, crop failures or friction among the congregation occurred, the supernatural was blamed. Because of the unusual size of the outbreak of witchcraft accusations, various aspects of the historical context of this episode have been considered as specific contributing factors.

Conservative radio host use this same strategy to create mass hysteria about President Obama, abortion, and liberals in general. When ever something bad occurs such as gas prices going up, the conservative groups tell people it is because of the President which is false. Natural disasters like the earthquake in Virginia was linked to Obama. Almost any bad event begins and ends with Obama being the president of America. Instead of screaming WITCH; they use such words as Communist, Socialist, and the most offensive FOOD STAMP president; better known as Dog-whistles.

Dog-whistle politics, also known as the use of code words, is a type of political campaigning or speechmaking which employs coded language that appears to mean one thing to the general population but has a different or more specific meaning for a targeted subgroup of the audience

During the Salem Witch Trials, fear and ignorance caused the death of many innocent people and it is well known the killings were cloaked in religion and political concerns. One person's accusation spread like wildfire to others who were too afraid or too weak to stand up for sanity and common sense in the face of powerful people.

Remember a test was given to prove that a person was not a witch. A test in which the accused would lose even if they won. A witch would float in water and a non witch would not float but drown. Dumb - right?

Today's test is a Christianity test. You must prove to millions of people's satisfaction that you are a Christian and believe in God. And no matter how many times President Obama says God Bless America; he is not seen as a Christian. He is portrayed as foreign -different, evil and if we were back in the day, he would be called a Witch, I am sure.

Daily, non stop, American Family radio digs and digs and digs after the president telling the audience we are on the brink of destruction by the power and might of one man. Any other African American man would receive the message loud and clear: 'you will be on trial on the level of mass hysteria seen during the Salem Witch Trials.'

It only takes a a handful of people tossing out negativity or let's be real a ball faced LIE to stir up a group of people who want to be stirred up. In wanting to get rid of EVIL the people themselves became/become EVIL.

Why the need for negative labels?

The Native Americans were labeled as savages. It's the process of dehumanization that makes killing them easier. You see it in any war, the Krowts and Nips in WWII, the Gooks in Viet Nam, The Dune Coons, Sand Niggers, Rag Heads, Mullahs, etc,. It makes it easier for the troops to kill more effectively if they see their enemy as less human than themselves.

In this Cultural War, dehumanizing the president makes it easier for racism to to remain under the radar and even the war on women to continue while the perpetrators believe they are ridding the world of evil.

We have read or seen what happens when powerful, affluent, self righteous, people feel threatened with the lose of power; they become ruthless and evil themselves in the process.

Book Review: First Time Novelist Tackles Bullying

One thing a writer learns is to have a great plot with unforgettable characters, have no grammatical errors, have at least 3 disasters, and have a basic plot of transformation, maturation and discovery.

One thing becomes perfectly clear in this memoir-esque book Her World of Darkness and Pain, Bullying and Self-Esteem, by Laketta Lowery, bullying is REAL and it has LASTING affects and the above mentioned rules do not apply when reliving and writing about a subject without any rhyme or reason.

No plot needed. This is the real world of many children told by an author through the memories and coping skills of a bullied child from day one: first grade through to finally surviving to the eleventh and twelfth grade where the clouds of suffering begin to dissipate.

Within the 214 page book, the reader enters the mind of a person being bullied. The reader becomes the confessional for the thoughts, anxiety, shame, and suicidal contemplations of a child just wanting to live in the world promised to children filled with: safety, play, and love.

In her first literary attempt, author Laketta Lowery goes full force to shock and enlighten parents, teachers, and yes, even bullies to the SECRET world of those who are being bullied and how well this crime is hidden by the victim.

Parents will be amazed to know the length a child - possibly their own child - will go and may be going right now to protect the bullier and to hide their own feeling of pain and confusion while being assaulted daily verbally, emotionally, and possibly physically, but definitely psychologically.

Beginning Excerpt From The Back Cover of the Book:

Does society recognize bullying as a serious issue that children and teenagers deal with every day? Do they understand the long-term negative effects bullying can have on a person's life.........

A Black Bone To Pick With You

As I have aged my hands have become darker with more lines and etchings of time. Not that I was ever a redbone or a cream coffee or even carmel; I was just a lighhter brown.

Does it bother me that my melatin seems to be going to the darker side of the spectrum with age? No. That is the least of my worries. I use to hear as a small child the darker the berry the sweeter the juice as all of the men ran after the 'high yellow' girls and the other black girls of the south tried to stay out of the sun so they would not become darker. So I knew some one was lying with the darker the berry line.

Why am I bringing this all up you may wonder. Well, are you wondering? Good. My first goal met.

I had the pleasure of meeting two well put together dark sisters last week. The first I shared a seat with on a shuttle and she somehow just began to tell me how offended she and her family were by the movie the "Help" because her grandmother and aunt were teachers in Mississippi during that time of the 1960's and her family were never maids.

Oh, I had met this type before. Ashamed. Angry. How dare you think my family ever cleaned for whites while that same lifestyle exists for Mississipians in 2012. Self important, yet irrelevant in the scope of the world, the movie was not about your family. It was about a point in time in which many people lived and suffered. Wonder than since her family were 'learned' did they help the Freedom Riders so they could vote? But, I don't get into scuffels with those who become angry when blacks are portrayed as slaves or less than human.

My next lady, well we had been joking and talking for hours. We were friendlier strangers. Then I said, The one thing I've been waiting to do and will accomplish in 2012 is tracing my family line back to Africa using genetics. She looked at me and said "My family is 1, 2, 3, 9, generations removed from slavery. I will never trace back to Africa." She seemed snappish, upset, ignorant because my mother, nor grandmother, were slaves and I loved learning genealogy as I had explained and could not wait to know what tribe I belonged to or what area of Africa my maternal ancestors originated.

Africans think black Americans are not black enough and have sold out and black Americans seem to not feel any connection accept denial of Africa. What is wrong?

I wanted to label or title this blog Black Confusion or Hate because the lines have blurred.

Are black people so broken until we have a battle with the darkness, lightness, origin, occupation, remembramce of our liineage, or forgetfulness of our struggles for freedom? Do we just have a problem with BLACKNESS?

Has the definition been so harsh of the word 'black' until there is not a definition we can agree on what it means to be the RIGHT BLACK? Who is keeping score and what is the reward, because it is WE tearing each other down for not being a correct black.

I don't know. We say it is 'them' or 'they' who hate black people. But, I say 'we' are doing a pretty good job of it too.

So, this is my black bone I have to pick with black people. Do we love our blackness? Or do we love our own definition of what BLACK means to each of us?

Self Publishing Persistence is Key

I know you wonder sometimes why you are spending all of your time trying to get just one person to purchase your book. Well, you figure if you land one person and they love it and in turn tell another person to get your book soon hundreds will have your book. And if that is your logic, then that's why you spend so much time promoting your book. And that is just what you must do to have the slightest level of success.

I ran across an article that speaks to this point. It gives you an idea of where ebooks is heading and if you should get on board or continue in the way you are going. I hope you find this informational

Why the future looks bright for self-publishers, even without control of placement on Amazon

by Robert Francis on October 11, 2011  http://www.fallofprint.com/?p=248

Everyone seems to be concerned at the moment with how to find readers. And with good reason. Without visibility in bookstores, newspaper reviews, or the Amazon 100, it isn’t easy.

In a provocative new post, Bob Mayer, a top-selling epublisher, explains why he thinks it’s only going to get harder — raising an issue that few ebook evangelists want to address. While I take Bob’s concerns seriously, my aim here is to place them in context, and to argue that the future for self-publishers still looks bright, for at least 3 reasons.

Bob’s conundrum:
At the moment, Bob sells tens of thousands of ebooks a month. But he suspects it won’t last. Soon, he’ll come to the end of his backlist and sales will plateau. He may fall out of the top 100, and if that happens, sales would plummet.

His argument:

1. The ebook pie may be growing, but your piece of it isn’t. The number of readers is rising and shelf space is infinite, but promotional space on Amazon is finite. The more authors, the more competition for this, the harder it is to sell.

2. This is especially problematic, because KDP won’t let self-pubbers buy placement or ads. And you can only get mentioned in the “also liked/bought” space of another chart-topping author if you’re already a top-seller yourself.

Thus, in his view, it’s the same chicken and egg problem we saw with print. You can’t get big unless you already are big.

So, in a comment on his blog, I asked:
Is it really only the top 100 or bust? Is there not a profitable middle ground? He agreed:

I think there are ways other than lists. There’s niche marketing, social media, and viral promotion. So there are great opportunities now for authors that didn’t exist before, but it’s a lot of long hard work…

Taking up the thread:
It certainly is, but the fact that there are these other options is worth noting. They point to a brighter future for writers, in at least three ways:

1. The lottery is no longer the only game in town. To sell in large numbers, you don’t have to wait until you win the lottery and land a spot at the front of the bookstore or in the Times Book Review. All of this is rapidly receding and soon to be gone for all but a tiny few.

For lesser known authors, there is at least the possibility of promotion through online reviews, forums and other social media. Some, like Lindsay Buroker, have done quite well (10,000 ebooks in 9 months). For better known writers, one major alternative seems to be the use of sites that function as authorial hubs. Perhaps the most notorious example of this will soon be Pottermore.

I will save for a future post why I think the Pottermore model will become more common among epublishers. But suffice it to say that it holds out many obvious advantages: it’s always open, always on, always attracting business — to you and you alone.

It’s a space where a writer can be much more effective in getting readers/tribe-members to connect with each other and deepen their interest in the work. And your moment in the spotlight is no longer seasonal: it’s 24/7, 365. It certainly takes longer to build it. But once built, it only grows.

2. The major bottleneck for starting and lesser known writers is gone. It will always be hard to find readers, but at least nothing now stands in the way of your access to them. It may take time, but while you wait, you can be selling, perfecting your craft, building your skills as a writer/publisher/marketer. Before, there was little to do but wait.

3. The lists are important but not everything. If you’re not on a top 100 or 1,000 list, you might still do well as a writer by selling less of more.

To be sure, nothing beats great placement on Amazon. But with ebooks, there are many other ways to reach readers. And more than one path to where you want to go.

Writer's - Don't Feel Rejected

I know you are already thinking 'easier said than done." but the truth is a rejection letter is not a personal attack. It simply indicates your submission is not appropriate for the market. I had an opportunity to speak with a editor about a query letter I had sent in for a book and the feedback I received was that I needed to think about HOW my book could be marketed. It should be either the 'history of' or a 'How to' book. Well, my book was more in the line of the Soup for the Soul type of books. But, I was happy to have some idea of what a publisher was looking for and marketability was a key factor.

If you are going to be a writer or have a career as a writer you should resign yourself to facing rejection now. You will live through it and you'll eventually overcome it.

I was happy that may query letter was clear enough for the publisher to understand what I was trying to do even if it was missing their particular mark. A query letter is a brief, one-page letter used as a tool to hook an editor and get him interested in your idea. When you query a book publisher - you are attempting to get an editor interested in your idea and request your book proposal or your entire manuscript.

Keeping your query letter out of the trash requires;
Using a normal font size and typeface, such as Times New Romans and 10-12 point type
Include your name, address, phone number, e-mail and web address if possible
Use a one-inch margin on queries
Address a specific editor or agent
Limit query letter to one single spaced page
Use block paragraph format (no indentations)
Include a self-addressed stamped envelope or post card for response with post submissions (thank goodness a lot of agents and publishers will take queries by e-mail now)
Thank the editor for considering your query.

Why would I include instructions for submitting to a publisher or agent if this is about being proud of being a self published author? Well, I have found that if you can write a good query letter than you have a clear idea of how to self promote your book. Great practice. And just because you have self published a book and like doing it that way, there may come a time when you write a book that fits a particular publisher and you do not have to be an all-or-nothing writer. It is fine to submit your book to an agent or publishing house just as it is just as okay to self publish.

Both processes have the same thing in common - REJECTION

No matter how hard you work on your book or how wonderful you believe your book is; the public at large may not jump right in with their dollars to purchase your great work. Yes, self promotion never stops so rejection never stops either. Using every resource available to keep your name and book title out there in cyberspace is your best bet.

So here is yet another place for you to get your book into the eyes of other readers. I am here to try to get reviews out there for self published books and I hope it will be a successful venture. Colleges Steal Christian Children

Are we as Christians telling or insinuating that there is a place you can go to and God can be ripped from your heart and spirit called COLLEGE. Has college become greater than GOD? Wow. Is this the language of Christian maturity?

If you have follwed my blog, you know I have shared many of my opinions on religion, Christianity, Christians and other topics that keep my mind occupied for more than a day or two.

In today's news coverage, commentators are either laughing at Rick Santorum or shaking their heads in utter disbelief at his statement regarding President Obama's conspiracy to send America's children to college to be indoctrinated against Christianity. Santorum said Obama wants Christian children to go to college to become "mini me' Obamas.

Having a background in religion with two college degrees from religious institutions, I have sat in classes and heard instructors rant how secular colleges steal their children by presenting secular education. Just as I was getting a college degree, they themselves had college degress; just as Rick Santorum has college degrees. If the colleges each individual attended was checked, there may be some secular colleges involved in their (their) academic instruction.

I have taught MY children who I raised in the belief of Christianity, that they are responsible for their belief in God. If someone can walk up to them in one day and wipe away their belief in God, then maybe they never had a true foundation or true belief in God.

I wonder why so little credit is given to Christian children. It takes a month, a year, and puff, the Christian no longer believes. Is it the fault of the millions of people on earth one may come into contact with in any given time frame in one's life to blame if one suddenly stops believing in God? This would be so simple. A genuine scapegoat that causes one to stop being a Christian.

In my Christian walk, their have been limitless occasions for me to decide I no longer believe in God. But, I would always think about why I believe in God and those core reasons always win out over any and all things that may have caused me to wonder about the whole presentation of Christianity.

Let's be real. For a long time Christianity taught that a black person was cursed by God, would always be a slave, was not on even terms with the other part of God's creation. Yes, you're right I'm black. And then I had to contend with the submission part of being the weaker sex and only the helpmeet to my husband. This is not secular society telling me these unfavorable things that should cause me to run in the opposite direction; it is the Bible, which is my instruction manual for living a holy life.

So, Rick Santorum, if a college told me these things as a black female and I decided these were just horrible statements and part of a religion I believed, would it be the college's fault if I said I wanted no part of it?

If I was told the Catholic Church remained silent during the Holocaust and during slavery preaching from the pulpit that giving slaves Sunday's off was godly; would it be the college's fault if I said I wanted no part of Christianity?

I always believed it was the lack of truth in rearing children in the church that left them vulnerable to the shock of the truth of religion. In America, we almost behave like the only Christian who ever lived sprang from America - the chosen place of God. Christianity began and had it's ups and downs long before America was the great nation it is now. We are a baby in the history of the world yet we have all of the answers and through the comments made by Rick Santorum we have all of the answers as long as no opposing questions are presented.

Give Christians more credit. Jesus sent them out into the world on the Great Commission to change the world not to live in a bubble and parrot back and forth to each other that have the same beliefs. A Christian is to learn and mature in their religion, but most leaders keep their congregation at baby bird status mouths open waiting for the worm to be placed into their mouths. Didn't Martin Luther have a problem with the Catholic Church for the droplets of knowledge allowed to their followers; drops of knowledge because they were not believed smart enough to handle God's truth on their own? And, didn't Martin Luther split the church because the knowledge dispensed was corrupt?

If as a parent you know your child is not rooted enough in their religious beliefs to go into the world, then why do you let them go out into the world? The world will not change for your child, but as a Christian, your child is suppose to change the world.

College is great. I wish every child could go to college. There is a world of knowledge dispensed that does nothing to detract from God. Remember their is math, art, music, economics, etc., etc., being taught and the main thing being taught is to learn to ask questions, analyze, manipulate data to find new information and ways of doing things better. This level of critical thinking is important and Rick Santorum might as well say what he really means: I don't want young people THINKING handling new concepts. I don't trust them enough to know what and why they believe.

God is bigger than any secular teachings. Christianity survived all sorts of pagan religions. I wonder if Rick Santorum thinks God did not know there would be all kinds of nay sayers in the world and He was big enough to even outlast them or whatever they came up with?

Rick Santorum's Gang Wars

Rick Santorum is emerging as a front runner in the GOP race for president. Women are in unison saying he is declaring war on women. People close to Santorum says his religious views have always been an openly displayed characteristic of his political life and social issues were and are a part of who he is.

But, who is Rick Santorum actually in a fight with? Mitt Romney, Secular Society, Obama, Women or is he just creating gangs to fight each other?

Santorum has become the favorite to take the fight to President Obama and religion is the key hidden under the guise of abortion, contraception, attack on the Catholic Church, some foreign theology that does not line up with the Bible, etc., etc. It all seems like a perfect strategy to take down the president who the majority of the Right has considered as "other" and not like the main stream or in touch with the main stream.

But being a person who has studied theology, I see another option on the table. Yes, there may be an attack on womanhood in an attempt to raise religious indignation and turn out the religious vote for the Republican party, but as news commentators report Santorum is losing the female vote across political lines; this is not a war of the sexes - Man vs Woman or secular society vs Christianity, it will slowly evolve into woman on woman hair pulling splitting the large demographic of female voters that at one time voted along the same lines and voted largely for Obama in 2008. How did I come up with this hypothesis?  The church has always told women in order to be a good Christian; there are certain criteria a woman must meet and bearing children was one of the ways to be a good Christian woman and make it to heaven, 1 Timothy 2:15. Women who even slightly frowned at this statement were labled feminist. I frowned, wrote a book on the topic, and guess what? I am in the category of FEMINIST.

A Christian woman must have at least one child (unless she is infertile) to be a Christian, thus the Catholic Church's stand against birth control. God commanded us to be fruitful and multiply. But, no one seems to tell you what is the exact number of children a woman must have to be a good Christian (the more the holier). My question is how can anyone put a number to or even ask such a question, but this has been a silent war going on in the church for a while and Santorum is now bringing it into to public sphere and I predict it will be a gang fight between the women of the world with the men sitting back with their arms crossed across their chest as women try to define once again what it means to be a woman which man and religion has always boiled down to child birth. Here is a question posed by an anxiety ridden Christian woman:

In an article published in Salvation Through Childbirth, A Reflective Analysis of 1 Timothy 2:15, Mr. Maxey addresses a question asked by a woman:

“Brother Maxey,

Having been raised in Churches of Christ, I am having a hard time breaking away from a works-based attitude into one more grace-based. I just can’t seem to break free of this constant fear for my salvation based on the fact that I am not following perfectly each and every verse in the New Testament. For example --- I am now an older woman. My husband and I never wanted our own children for many reasons. However, now, when I read the verse about women being saved through childbirth, my heart aches over the thought that this decision of mine may be one which keeps me out of Heaven. It was a willful choice on my part not to have children, and my heart actually hurts when I contemplate where my decision may be sending me when I die, and so I lie awake at night! …any insight or help you can offer me would be very much appreciated!

Yes, women take the issues of contraceptives, abortion, motherhood, pregnancy, and making it into heaven seriously and Santorum is telling us it is through repairing the family; marrying, having several children, homeschooling the children, staying out of the military, doing all of the things a virtuous woman is suppose to do as the correct role for women. What is the repair part for a destroyed America for men in this equation? So is this a war on womanhood or is it the gentle pokings of dividing and conquering one of the strongest voting demographics? Women, I predict, will turn on each other before it is all said and done. There are numorous groups that are proud to be part of the Proverbs 31 Woman and if you are not striving to be a Proverbs 31 Woman then you are lumped into the camp of the enemy. Below are the virtures of the Proverbs 31 Woman:

10 Virtues of the Proverbs 31 Woman

We want to encourage women to serve God in every aspect of their lives.

1.   Faith - A Virtuous Woman serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She seeks His will for her life and follows His ways. (Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 31: 29 – 31, Matthew 22: 37, John 14: 15, Psalm 119: 15.
2.   Marriage – A Virtuous Woman respects her husband. She does him good all the days of her life. She is trustworthy and a helpmeet. (Proverbs 31: 11- 12, Proverbs 31: 23, Proverbs 31: 28, 1 Peter 3, Ephesians 5, Genesis2: 18)
3.   Mothering - A Virtuous Woman teaches her children the ways of her Father in heaven. She nurtures her children with the love of Christ, disciplines them with care and wisdom, and trains them in the way they should go. (Proverbs 31: 28, Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 22: 6, Deuteronomy 6, Luke 18: 16)
4.   Health – A Virtuous Woman cares for her body. She prepares healthy food for her family. (Proverbs 31: 14 – 15, Proverbs 31: 17, 1 Corinthians 6: 19, Genesis 1: 29, Daniel 1, Leviticus 11)
5.   Service - A Virtuous Woman serves her husband, her family, her friends, and her neighbors with a gentle and loving spirit. She is charitable. (Proverbs 31: 12, Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20, 1 Corinthians 13: 13)
6.   Finances - A Virtuous Woman seeks her husband’s approval before making purchases and spends money wisely. She is careful to purchase quality items which her family needs. (Proverbs 31: 14, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 18, 1 Timothy 6: 10, Ephesians 5: 23, Deuteronomy 14: 22, Numbers 18: 26)
7.   Industry – A Virtuous Woman works willingly with her hands. She sings praises to God and does not grumble while completing her tasks. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 24, Proverbs 31: 31, Philippians 2: 14)
8.   Homemaking – A Virtuous Woman is a homemaker. She creates an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and guests. She uses hospitality to minister to those around her. (Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20 – 22, Proverbs 31: 27, Titus 2: 5, 1 Peter 4: 9, Hebrews 13: 2)
9.   Time - A Virtuous Woman uses her time wisely. She works diligently to complete her daily tasks. She does not spend time dwelling on those things that do not please the Lord. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 19, Proverbs 31: 27, Ecclesiastes 3, Proverbs 16: 9, Philippians 4:8 )
10.   Beauty – A Virtuous Woman is a woman of worth and beauty. She has the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She uses her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones. (Proverbs 31: 10Proverbs 31: 21 – 22, Proverbs 31: 24 -25, Isaiah 61: 10, 1 Timothy 2: 9, 1 Peter 3: 1 – 6)

How many women are not virtuous? How many woman are going to listen to Santorum explain how they have dropped the ball and he is trying to repair/restore America through soundness of the family which seems to be held together solely by the virtuous woman.

Okay, you do not have to follow any line of my reasoning, but I think Santorum is starting to divide and separate using religion as his foundation. The people will have to decide if they are in the camp for God or in the camp against God. This was done in history before during the Civil War when the South said God was on their side and the North said God was on their side. Was the point at the end of the Civil War when someone stood up and waved a flag and said "See there, I told you, God was on our side." History books do no report that. The needlessness of brother against brother and father against son is what the history books report and about a war based more on MONEY and loss of POWER than anything else.

I am disappointed to say the least in the use of religion and the role of women as a platform in a presidential race. It is like there is a new slogan "Don't vote for evil." No one wnats to vote for evil so the point is moot. But, no one wants to vote for an out and out liar either. When there is a race for power - true character appears. There has been a lot of ugliness on display. But, women hold firm. Do not become a pawn in this descent into 'how Christian am I.' Man will always have a set of tests and then there is what the Bible instructs everyone to do. Keep check on your personal relationship with God and remain loyal and firm to Him. Don't be pulled to and fro with all of what is being said and most importantly read my book :When Will Eve Be Forgiven?

I told you what the Proverbs 31Woman is defined as but I would also like to tell you other words in the Bible used to describe women. All women have the charge of deciding what label they are willing to live with. I said I have been labeled as a FEMINIST, that is okay, but I reject any label that is given to me for just expressing a thought.

The adjectives used to describe women have not changed much since biblical times due largely to the fact human nature has not changed much either. The Book of Proverbs has more vivid adjectives describing womanhood than any other book in the Bible. The list of adjectives include: adulterous, aged, angry; bad, beautiful, brawling; careless, chaste, clamorous, comely, compassionate, complacent, contentious; deceitful, devout, diligent, discreet, dishonest, domestic, drunken; elect, evil; fainthearted, fair, faithful, foolish, foreign, fretful; glorious, godly, good, gracious, grave, great,; haughty, high-principled, holy, honest, honorable,; impudent, indiscreet; jealous,; kind, loose, loving; obedient, odious, outlandish; peevish, peaceable, pitiful, prudent; quarrelsome, reverent, righteous; sensible, serious, shamefaced, shameless, silent, silly, simple, sober, steady, strange, submissive, subtle; temperate, trustworthy; unloved; virtuous; wayward, weak, wealthy, whorish, wicked, wily, worthy; and young. The book of Proverbs was assembled for instructional purposes and could have served as a manual for the education of the sons of men with status in the Old Testament times as well as a model for moral behavior especially in dealing with relationships between men and women.
